Sip Away Stress

teaS

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by stress, drinking black tea just might be the antidote. According to a 2006 University College London study of 75 adults, sipping four cups of black tea throughout the day can reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol by as much as 20 percent.  (Cortisol raises blood pressure and can weaken the immune system according to the National Institutes of Health.)  Study participants who drank tea also reported feeling more relaxed after dealing with difficult situations than those who consumed other caffeinated drinks.
